An exclusive webinar session for the teachers was organized by the MES’s HOCL School, Rasayanion the topic “Role of Teachers in Emotional Well-Being of Students”in its endeavours to empower school leaderships. HOCL School invited speaker Ms. Niharika Mehta, School Counsellor on 23rd October, 2021 at 11:30 A.M and conducted the webinar through the Google meet platform.

Introduction

Both physical and mental well-being are indispensable for human survival in today’s contemporary arena. Its role is even more crucial during any unforeseen circumstances. Covid-19 pandemic is one such threat to humanity which has completely shattered the world. The catastrophic threat that the mankind is facing at present has adversely affected both the physiological and psychological state of mind. In order to address this issue and suggest various remedial measures, HOCL School in observing World Mental Health Day, organized a webinar on the topic “Role of Teachers in Emotional Well-Being of Students” on 23rd October, 2021.The Programme Coordinators for the webinar were Ms. Angel Sunder and Ms. Rashmi Solanki.

Inaugural Session

The webinar started with the opening remark given byMs. Rashmi Solanki who highlighted that we deal differently with problems before us. However, though degrees of requirement of psycho social care and mental health services may differ from person to person. We should not hesitate to seek help if we are experiencing any stress or mental disturbance feelings. She concluded by saying that in today’s programme, eminent speaker will try to cover important aspects in this regard and provide some tips to teachers to manage stress and promote their students’ mental, physical and social well-being.

The School Principal, Ms. Reema Nikalje in her Welcome Address, said that the topic of the webinar is of vital importance considering the current situation.This has multi-folded the challenges which has cumulatively impacted the physical, mental, financial, and social well-being of people. Hence it is quite important that all of us should be more careful for both our physical and mental well-being.

Technical Session

Ms. Niharika Mehta, School Counsellor, in her presentation “Role of Teachers in Emotional Well-Being of Students” elaborated the meaning of well-being by highlighting its various types like social well-being, spiritual well-being and emotional well-being. She stressed on the mental health issues of students and also suggested the solution for the same. She emphasized upon teachers for bringing behavioural change among students. She quoted Gurudev Sri Sri Ravishankar and said, “Every child should be taught mental hygiene- that is nonviolence”. She concluded her presentation with some key suggestion to take care of the mental well-being of children and appeal the parents to mind the online risks as the children are at home and are more exposed to the electronic gadgets.

Finally, the technical session ended with couple of questions which were asked by the participants and patiently answered by the eminent speaker to the satisfaction of the audience.

Valedictory Address

Finally, the School Principal, Ms. Reema Nikalje expressed her gratitude towards the Management for their constant support and encouragement to attend& conduct such enriching sessions.She further thanked the speaker for her exemplary efforts in providing an informative session which will help the teacher to understand their role as a Counsellor for their students and allow them to reach great heights of success.
